The Story behind Bird of Flight

Bird of Flight began after years of designing shoes for the fast fashion industry. I loved designing, but I wanted to create something I could truly stand behind—beautiful shoes made in small batches by skilled artisans, with quality and craftsmanship that would last. I didn't want to make shoes that looked like everyone else's. I wanted to create shoes women would fall in love with—and keep reaching for year after year.

After all these years, I'm still in love with shoes. I still get excited every time I sketch a new design or find the perfect leather. And I still love seeing a woman put on a pair of Bird of Flight shoes, smile, and say, "These are so me."

Today, I partner with small ateliers in Brazil to create leather shoes using beautiful vegetable-tanned leathers and traditional craftsmanship. They're comfortable enough to wear all day, and cool enough that you can throw on the simplest outfit and let your shoes make the statement.

Because life is too short to wear boring shoes.
